Taekwondo Provincial Championships

This unique competition took place at Miller High School In Regina on Saturday March 23 with the opening taking place at 10:00AM.

The
World Taekwondo Federation is the only TKD organization currently recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

Taekwondo is available province wide
with schools in Regina, Kipling, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Nipawin, Melville and Yorkton.

Kim's East Zone
Taekwondo School which is operated by Mr. Bryan Folk, (right) hosted this event.
 
 



By 10AM the bleachers were filled to capacity and the competitors were ready to test their skill in both the "patterns" and the "sparring" competitions.



The competitors all hope to find the top spot on the medal podium.
 
 





These good sports are typical of Taekwondo students who see something similar to the Kim's School Pledge (right) at every training session.












The spectators and supporters receive a good view of four separate mats active at any given time.
 
 

Grand Master Sung Ju Kim
presented Mayor Fiacco with an honorary Black Belt.

Mayor Fiacco enjoyed a very successful amateur boxing career.

Two Taekwondo Masters traveled from Calgary to be a part of this event with Grand Master Kim, the Mayor of Regina
 

and Mr. Folk together with his team of volunteers.


Four athletes (below) were honoured by the Saskatchewan Taekwondo Association for exceptional achievements at their respective schools and competitions throughout the year.
