Official opening of new tennis courts

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, June 21, 2007

Just as it takes more than a golf course to play the game tennis takes a lot more than having the facility to develop skill and interest in the sport. That is one of the main reasons the new tennis courts have been located on the southeast corner of the TMSS playing field immediately east of the outdoor skating rink. With the courts located right on the school grounds the school will be able to incorporate instruction in the game as part of the physical education programme.

This summer the provincial tennis association will be providing some clinics to initiate skill development in Tisdale and give those who want to learn the basics of the game to have some outstanding coaching.

Recreation director Dwight Olson began the ceremony this afternoon and Mayor Rolly Zimmer explained to the students and guests present the funding that went into developing this truly excellent sports facility.

Several members of the town council were on hand to see the project that they have worked on for some time to become an official part of Tisdale's already extensive sports and recreational infrastructure.
