April 2, piles like this one will take a while to disappear. April 2, without a place to go water just replaced the winter's snow on this yard. April 1, another Tisdale yard with a little paddling pool in its front yard. The bring April 2nd sun lit up the Presbyterian Church.

I have always thought it intersting that the Presbyterian church had this weather vain atop its steeple instead of a cross. April 2, standing in the new town square the evidence of winter is fast disappearing. April 2, across the street the neighbours have come home from their winter stay in the British Columbian souther interior in time to see the snow slip from the new yard. April 2nd only days ago this scene had a sold ridge of snow along the street now the sidewalk is accessible for the first time since fall.

April 2nd the price of gasoline in Tisdale is rising with the descent of the snow. I am a bit surprised at the failure of the Canadian dollar to keep its viertical momentum going and therebye keep the price of gasoline moderate. After all as oil prices rise Canada which supplies 60% of the United States' crude oil is in a windfall situation. Friday at noon Reuters news agency jumped ahead in time reporting the death of Pope John Paul who indeed sucumbed on Saturday. Tisdale has a large Roman Catholic population and we extend our thoughts and praiyers to them at the loss of their church leader. A sign of spring, a stock car ready for the track and on Saturday the club held their meeting.

Snow at St. Theresa Park and in the distance Harvest Valley terminal, April 2nd. April 2nd, Kevin and Sandra McIntyre from Carrot River were into Saskatoon and took this picture of the drive in theatre temporarily under water on the eastern outskirts of the city. On Monday April 3rd the snow that once covered the old TUCs field is almost gone for another year. April 3, the water that was flowing here is a little more restrained.

April 4th Matthew Shire wanted to show us the progress of spring in Regina and the remarkable pot holes that have made their appearance.

On the side streets there was still lots of snow to be seen and water splashing about as Matthew made his way along April 4th. Regina's storm seweres were doing their job and raining away the spring melt, April 4th.

This part of Regina had a lot of snow and ice piled up and it is only slowly going away April 4th. Little micro-wascana lakes seem to be everywhere in the Regina south east. April 4th a pretty wet southern Regina. Normally life jackets are not needed in Regina. April 4th

Water and more water with snow still to melt only three days ago. (April 4th) This image is pretty typical of the large piles in the front yards of Regina homes. April 4th. Ice and snow are tough on cars but crumbled pavement as it sinks into the clay beneath is even worse. April 4th - here is a neat pot hole, it is beside one from a year ago which had been patched.

In some places pot holes just have to be dug up and with Regina's clay, whichis pretty much the same stuff as we have in in Tisdale the stuff just slumps. A crack gets water, freezes and the ices expands to make a bigger crack and soon the pavement become dust. In this part of Regina the top soil is between thirty and forty feet deep. Even driveways take the same kind of beating as we see here in Tisdale as Regina's soft clay flexes.

April 5th the Doghide had swollen considerably and hit its highest level for the year. Fortunately there was not an ice problem and the water spread out then made its way north. It looks serious but this area get a good soaking every year. April 5th the Riverside gold course became a very large pond.
