Run off beginning

FTLComm - Tisdale - Thursday, March 4, 2010

Ever since the storm we have experienced pretty mild conditions and this week for three days the streets were above freezing even though the air temperature remained just below that. Still it has been warm enough that liquid water is accumulating and making its way to drainage.

Yestereday I saw a lady at the intersection across from the Bargain Shop trying to cope with a large deep puddle that had formed by the curb. I took that to be a sign of spring but I did not realise until today that water was starting to trickle into the streams in the area.

Coming back from Valparaiso today I noticed water on top of the ice and snow in the creek just west of Tisdale and so I went over to the Doghide to take a look and above is the scene right at the bridge on the east side of Tisdale on highway 3.

On the right is the Doghide on the north side of town and below you can see the water on top of the ice just back of the bridge on the old highway.
