Spring's progress

FTLComm - Tisdale - Tuesday, March 9, 2010

It was a week ago today that we told you about the first taste of spring and since then it has remained mild and the whole process of spring continues. While fog remains the order of the day for most of southern Saskatchewan we have only had some overcast and light fog in the morning with it clearing up by mid afternoon each and every day. There even was a bit of mist and drizzle last evening but look at the great weather this afternoon.

It was at 4:00 when I spotted a pair of neighbours enjoying a puddle a few doors south of us and over on Caribou the wet scene was pretty much the same (right).

This rerally big snow person graces the front yard of a house on Newmarket (above) while the entrance into Forester (right) is laying in water.

There is a lot of wet snow on the ground and in all of the town it is going to take a while even with these warm temperatures for the piles to melt into the street. However, (below) out in the country side the snow cover is much lighter and as you can see grass is poking up along the stream just East of Valparaiso. Like the Doghide this little waterway is already showing water on the ice and it will only be a couple of days until the streams and drainage ditches are moving water.
