Walkin' In The Sunshine

FTLComm - Tisdale
February 4, 2000

These pictures were taken yesterday but all indications are that today will be equally as pleasant.

In the past several days Ensign has drawn attention to the large numbers of Tisdale pedestrians and how doing what they do is in need of some assistance. The man ahead of me walks with the signs of worn and damaged knees but each day he makes his way down to get his mail and do a little shopping but he does so on the road way. I discussed this issue with a fellow pedestrian yesterday who explained that he personally had mounted a campaign some ten or eleven years ago attempting to get the town to invest in a small machine just to keep the walk ways open during the winter but his pleas went un heeded. As we stood talking in the wonderful afternoon sun the sound of a grader was clearly audible as it was clearing streets North of us leaving them much as this one is in the picture above. More then adequate for vehicles but less then what is needed for pedestrians.

The picture below is less then a block from the picture above but shows an East view of the same intersection seen above. The arrow in the image points to a family, a mother and three small children who must walk almost in the middle of the street and on that block there are sidewalks on both side of the thoroughfare yet both are not usable.
