High levels of humidity and infection prone barley make for a bad combination. The
varieties of barley grown for malting purposes are not particularly resistant to
various fungal infestations so with the heads just developing aerial spraying is
underway with a product called Tilt which will control the development of the fungus
and produce high yields of a superior quality. This Piper Brave is jumping into the
air with its 280 gallons of funguscide. The chemical is used on all the fruit we
eat and is one of the friendly chemicals used in agriculture. It can be applied and
handle rainfall only one hour after application without losing its effectiveness
on the barley crop.
