Day 7 we got up much later than usual, and had pancakes for breakfast. We then prepared to leave the hut for the last time and return to our vehicles. It was a marvelous hike out, the three hours passing very quickly indeed. But all my energy reserves had been used up. I was spent! Nothing remained when I reached the truck. I changed my clothes with everything including my pack completely drenched with my sweat and I stepped back into different life, one devoid of the struggle of the last 6 days. But what would remain was the fact that I had completed the task and found a strength within which had allowed me to continue when it seemed impossible and bearing witness to a beauty which for the past two years I have beenunable or unwilling to see or be a part of.
