The reason twin engined aircrafts have two engines is because they need two engines. The reason the United States has slapped the huge tarrif on Canadian Softwood lumber is that growing softwood on woodlots makes their industry completely unable to sustain itself and unable to compete with natural forests in Canada. Natural forests in the United States are no longer viable sources of lumber.
