No matter what the productively of the land a woodlot simply is not competitive to a natural forest and it is clear that the Americans have no choice but to put up trade barriers when they have no hope of being competitive. One wonders why they entered into the Free trade deal in the first place when it was clear to them from the beginning that they could not live up to its provisions.
