Editor's note: Longbeach is one of the wonders of Vancouver Island and though one would think that all Canadians would know about a place in Canada where you can surf and walk along white sand beaches for literally miles, it is relatively one of those vacation secrets. One Canadian who used to frequent the place and enjoy its remarkable beauty and environment was former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau.

Mike Townsend took his camper and settled in for a visit to this outstanding place West of Port Alberni and captured a gallery of fabulous images of the sights that unfolded before him. I have selected thirty-two of those images to share with you.
