The berry patch

Brendaren Farms - Friday, May 20, 2005 - by: Edwin Wallace
We were afraid for our saskatoon crop what with all the cold (freezing) nights during the first part of May.  As it happened the little flowers remained in their buds during that time - a few warmer days and they bust forth in profusion.

The orchard, including two rows of choke cherries on the east side covers an area of 2.1 acres with 11 1/2, 300 foot rows of saskatoons.

Only time will tell if the frost damaged the crop but right now it looks good.
