Tisdale's Construction Season Update

FTLComm - Tisdale - May 30, 2001

It looks like 2001 is a good year to build or at least make changes. All around town there are renovation projects underway but today we take a look at the construction projects.

This new house, on the last available lot on Newmarket is completely framed with the exception of the garage which will go behind the red pickup. This is a very interesting house as the owners have chosen a very

modest depth for their basement allowing for large windows and abundant living space on the lower floor which in most houses is the basement. With a two story house the backfilling and landscaping become critical factors and it will be interesting to see how this house develops.

House number two for this season is seen below and is in the South part of town. This appears to be a house moved in and placed on this new wood basement.

The interesting thing about

This project is that it also has a very substantial amount of the basement above ground level and this is especially obvious as we see it from the alley in the picture on the right.

Houses three and four are both also located on the South side of town.

Number three (below) was getting its footing's poured Tuesday afternoon with the basement having only been dug on Friday, so it would appear this one is on a little faster track than number

four which is located on a former business site and already has poured footings.

This site (at right) is a corner lot and seems to have a pleasant setting.

The multiple dwelling project on the former primary school playground site is making progress with its lower level completed but we will bring you pictures of that project at another time.

Farber Construction is at work on this commerical shop site developed on the two lots we showed you earlier this year being cleared. The large concrete pad is being readied for pouring and appears to be a substantial building.

Meanwhile the Golden Age Centre moves along with the water and sewer lines having been installed yesterday (below) by the town crew and this morning there are no less than eleven workers and volunteers smoothing gravel and preparing the project for the next phase of construction as everything is ready now for the building of the floor structure.
