House three ready for rafters

FTLComm - Tisdale - Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Across the back alley just west of the
Falkon Theatre this house has its basement excavated by Chupa Excavation and Trucking on April 20th. This is a small lot and the owners, who have been working on the site since the beginning wanted to preserve the trees that could be saved to reduce the work of landscaping their new home.

Once the footings were in place on April 26th the base for the structure was filled with gravel and then the foam forms arrived on May fifth. Often assembling the forms and filling them with cement can take a bit longer than one would expect but in this case the work went quickly and smoothly so that by May tenth the forms were completed. Two days later they had given the outside of the forms a protective cover and it was ready for backfilling.

By May fourteenth the floor was assembled and on May twenty-first it was time to start putting up the walls.

All in all this is one of the fastest assemblies seen using the foam forms which usually takes a little longer then building a wood basement.
