This Durham crop seem fairly well along but again the colours in these pictures will not necessarily be true as the one on the left looks much more golden then it did to the eye. The flax crop on the below and below right is pretty well finished flowering. From a casual observer driving through the country there appears to be fewer fields of flax this year compared to other |

years but as I drive around my observations are less then trained or experienced.
Because of low feed barley prices it is difficult to find many fields of the crop that has been the mainstay of this part of the province for generations. It is sad to see what looks like abundant wheat crops knowing that the price is well below appropriate levels and disappointing to see the US donating wheat to Indonesia as food aid when this is one of Canada's larger Asian customers. |
