This barley crop is located North of Tisdale and though it is fairly light in colour the one immediately West of town is much further along and will be one of the first crops in the area to be swathed. In general, farmers and merchants alike are optimistic about the crop that is soon to be harvest as local business report good sales for the month of July. One way or another it will not be long until swathers combines and trucks take to the fields to process a crop year that began almost three weeks ahead of normal. If the showers let up August 6th should mark the beginning of the harvest season.
