PC party loyalists reconstitute the
Progressive Conservative Party of Canada

Progressive Conservative activists opposed to the merger of the PC Party with the Canadian Alliance today (January 9, 2004) filed an application with Elections Canada to register the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada as an official federal party.
   
  Hanson Dowell, Q.C., the last Chair of the Nova Scotia PC Federal Presidents Council, will serve as interim leader and Oscar Johvicas, a Toronto businessman and Immediate Past President of Beaches-East York Federal PC Association, is interim president. Both men have long records of service with the Progressive Conservative party going back several decades.
