To hell with the bell for another year
Tisdale - Thursday, September 1, 2011 by: Darlene McCullough
Fifty - three members and ten guests of the Tisdale Chapter of Superannuated Teachers met at the Riverside Golf Course to enjoy breakfast and catching up with friends at the annual To Hell with the Bell held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 30. This gathering is always held to celebrate the first day of classes for the new school year.
With a ringing of the old school bell, President Bob Donnan welcomed everyone. He drew some items in the annual newsletter to the attention of the members - especially the planned events for the coming year.
Secretary-Treasurer Darlene McCullough reported on the finances of the group.
Kate McCorriston, the provincial executive liaison, brought greetings from the provincial executive and mentioned some upcoming recreational events.
President Bob Donnan then presented ten-year membership pen awards to Gwenne Degenstien and Bob Price and a twenty-year key fob award to Therese Mahussier.
Business was kept to a minimum so that the members could continue the hum of conversation as they reminisced about school events and happenings of the past. Several members concluded the morning with the enjoyment of a round of golf.
Thanks to the staff of the Riverside Golf Course for supplying a sumptuous breakfast.
The next meeting of the group will be held on Monday, September 19 when they will be traveling to Gronlid and Wapeti Ski Resort. If there are any retired teachers who have not yet been in touch with the group, please contact Bob Donnan or Darlene McCullough.
