Grandmother’s house

A few weeks ago, I began to think of the old apartment building my grandmother and her daughter lived in in the 60's. It was slated for extensive renovations in 1969 and I don't know if everyone had to move out, but grandma called John Remai, because she could, and said “Johnny, we need a new place to live that is walking distance to Eatons.”
He called back a couple of hours later and they moved to Embassy House on 3rd Ave N. I believe at that time there was a Safeway on theNorth side of The Bay. (Her car dealer was around the corner, and she thought it was normal to call the owner for service, and they picked up and delivered!)
It was a cool old building and with Google Earth, I found it. 10th and MacPherson, now apparently called Macpherson Courts.
On Tuesday we took a look. I always loved those old neighbourhoods and on your Sunday drive, go two doors south of M.C. and you'll find one of the most beautiful houses in the city. The pictures don't do it justice. We also saw a number of these old gems up on cribbing with new basement being built under them.
Sandra was shocked - Shocked I tell you! "Look at this hill! Look how steep it is, in Saskatoon!"
Yep, Lorne street exit, left on MacPherson, one block across Main.
