Though the food
at the Shand fair is truly great and the horse show and gymkhana events superb its
the people that make this the place to be at least once every summer. When Cindy Petrie was in grade nine would her principal at the time expect to be standing talking to her at the Shand Fair twenty-five years later! Above Cindy with the white shirt has a broad smile just like her two daughters in the foreground of this picture and shares the moment with Garth Langdon and Judy Shire. While on the left is Gwen Wasylyk who twenty-five years ago was a grade ten student in Weekes, an incredible athlete, brilliant student, a Spice Girl twenty-five years ahead of her time. Today Gwen lives on a ranch in Kamloops and pursues her computer programming career having returned to her home marking the death of her uncle and taking in the Shand Fair. All around the fair ground throughout the day it was moments like these with people catching up with one another, trading stories and celebrating the opportunity to meet one another once again making this a positive reality checking experience. |
