The May 26th meeting was opened by President Cindy at 7:00 at the TMSS art room with seven members present. The meeting agenda had been previously posted to FaceBook.
The Foto Fun entries were viewed. Any club which can provide at least five entries is eligible to enter the competition and assist with the judging. Anne provided a commentary on each photo, regarding the points earned by our club’s judges. Our own photographs were not judged by our club.
Photos provided by Cory, Cindy and Bj. for the Regional Photo Meeting, to be held this Saturday at the Hanover Room in the Tisdale RecPlex, were viewed and commented upon. All members are, of course, encouraged to attend and participate by bringing ten photographs.
The Theme Shoot pictures were viewed. This month’s theme was “patterns”. Images had been posted to FaceBook from Vic, Cory, Cindy, Trena, Stephanie and Bj. The pictures which were selected for publication were “Freezing Rain” by Trena (top of page), “Night Lights” by Cindy (top right) and “Ribbon Egg” by Bj (bottom right).
The display of photographs at the HealthPlex was discussed. The Town of Tisdale has covered the total cost of the frames and a cheque from them has been received. Ten photographs have been hung, mostly a mixture of bird pictures, to occupy the space until a set of theme photos can be provided. Don printed a title picture identifying the club as the source of the photos. It was decided that we should shoot four themes per year for this project, with the hope that each club member will be able to provide one photograph each time.
This year’s themes will be:
For the first set, images should be provided to Don by July 1 so that he can get them printed. Finished pictures should be at least 11 x14 or, preferably, twelve and a half by sixteen and a half, as we have mats for both sizes. Both vertical and horizontal formats are acceptable.

Don’t forget to take and send to Sean Wallace pictures of Tisdale: the town and its activities. Our group shoot to take pictures for this project will meet June 23rd at 6:30 pm at Memorial Park.
Cindy presented a YouTube video about “Free Lensing” aka “Lens Whacking”. The idea is to free hold a wide angle lens in front of your camera body. This will allow you to do tilt/shift work and interesting control of depth of field. A lens of 50mm focal length or less, works best and it must be set at infinity, with the camera in manual mode. This is somewhat similar to the “Lens Baby” that was demonstrated last year at the Regional Photo Meeting.
Stephanie will look into the new cost to rent the art room and, if the price is too high, she will pursue alternatives for us.
