Editor's note: This event took place on Friday, May 9, 2014

Arnie and I wanted to go look at the the fire damage south on highway 33 between Kronau and Sedley that burned farm lands.
At times the the news media stated that the fire was close to half mile wide and traveling fast.

Here are some Images as we toured the area, south and east of Kronau. Just We turned on the highway 33 to go back to Regina I saw a large plume of what I thought was dust from farmers planning wheat, rising from the horizon to the west of Lajord.

As we drove closer to it, both Arnie and I saw flames. We now seeing a real Prairie Fire off to the west of Lajord. Off the highway on grid roads it was interesting to figured out how to get to it without being in its path.

Some of the first pictures are taken were approximately one mile to the west, as we got closer to the fire, it burned its self out on a East-West grid road.

I took some Images of hot spots in the field and the ditch.

This
fire was approximately five mile West of Lajord.

I took a few images of the wind blowing the smoke over the road. As we drove west I noticed a hot spot getting close to some farm buildings, so we went to get the owner of the farm. As we drove into his farm he was on his ATV heading out as he noticed that he had a power pole smouldering. We told him that he had fire in the field approaching his North-South access road.

We both got back to the fire quickly, he let the fire burn most of the field as it got close to the access road. He then threw water on the smouldering power pole and put out the remain fire with a shovel.
