Running back Nolan Carrier picks up some yards in the third quarter with the help of some really well placed blocks.

This picture shows Riders returning a punt. Tisdale had real problems with high snaps during the game and Blake Patterson who is also the team's kicker scrambled several times to get a wild snap but in each case he was able to get the kick away. Hudson Bay did very well with punt returns and during the last five minutes of the game attempted on side kick off that did not go as well as planned.

Patterson's ability to move the ball has made it possible this season for Tisdale to play competitive football. With the need for defense to cover a possible run the Tisdale quarterback has had the option to get away passes into the flats or deep. During the later part of the game Tisdale tried to use this flexibility but the real story of the game was the high level of intensity exhibited by the Riders.

Football is a remarkable focused sport and the mental attitude of the players often is far more important then their skills or even coordinated team play. The use of the cheerleaders and the large number of home town fans who came to back them up definitely had a major affect in giving the Hudson Bay players that extra effort to break or make a tackle.

Tisdale enjoyed the support
of lots of fans on the sidelines but they were less then vocal and so many of them were comfortably enjoying the game in their cars.

Though these things are hard to measure it is likely that the honk of a car horn is appreciated but the active and continuous support of a vocal group like the cheerleaders was far more effective in keeping your spirits up and driving the individual player on to put everything into every play.

Though these pictures tell you some of the story the automatic features of modern digital photography and processing are a bit deceitful because by the end of the game it was getting pretty dark. The game began at 4:00 and sunset occurred around 5:50 and the game ended at 6:10.

On the right we have a couple of warmly dressed mothers from Hudson Bay who with most other Hudson Bay parents were on the field sidelines, one mother had a pompom and was right beside the players bench urging on the team.

This was one of the last regular games to be played on this field with the former high school still standing in the background. It was to have been torn down in August but is still there.
