The farmer sampled the crop and says it will grade out as number one if all goes
well. The solid stubble holds the swath up well and should prevent much damage so
that it will be easy to pick up with the combine. Normal swathing of this crop would be near the end of August but it was planted well ahead of normal in April this year and harvest is pushed up by a good three weeks. The warm weather the last few days is really speeding up the process of bringing the crop to the right condition for both swathing and combining. However, were this crop to be straight combined it would be almost two weeks from now before it would be ready for that process. |
