Country Campground at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota
Detroit Lake, Minnesota - Thursday, June 27, 2013

Minnesota’s pleasant scenery and friendly people attracted us to reprise our positive experience last summer. This time we headed east from Fargo to a remarkable community called Detroit Lakes. Minnesota is really just one lake after another so it comes as no surprise to find a neat town of about 8,000 people encircling a lake. We found homes of all walks of life with beach front lots and a view that most of us would swoon over. We decided not to document the magnificent and modest homes but rather we chose to take some pictures of the main beach area which is in the downtown area.
Our campground was about two miles from the centre of town and the shopping had absolutely everything one could want.
Country Campground is a “Good Sam” campground with a 8.5 rating that it really deserves. Most of the pictures with this story are of the campground and its facilities. We were located at the furthest edge of the sites and unfortunately the Wifi was hopeless to upload this site on. However, I did get last week’s story up but it took a long time and I was unable to get this story uploaded.
Wifi is important if you depend upon it but Country Campground more than compensates for that minor issue. The cable television was a nice touch and was exceptional quality. It did surprise me that both Jamestown and this campground carried “Fox” channels, I really thought that sort of thing was a myth but it tells you about the American culture. The people were not only friendly but interacted with us and all of the people in their transient village. Todd, Karen and Elwood put this place on the map and it is hard to imagine not returning for another stay another year.
