Cassandra Loiselle's piece is well presented in my opinion.
APAS |
The current madness in Sask.; the establishment of APAS (Ag. Producers Assn. of Sask.) has all the bad old characteristics of the traditional electoral process.

RM |
1. - - |
As I understand it, there will be an election for a municipal representative in each member - RM - thank Gawd our municipality has refused to join - then those representatives will choose who the chief Dawgs are. This is precisely the way the good ole' Sask Wheat Corp works and why it got into so much trouble. |

real policy |
2. - |
The more candidates in the RMs, the less likelihood the real policy wishes of the ratepayers will be reflected in the winner of the contest. |

most |
As a matter of what I believe will become fact, such a system in our municipalities will only prove to be the most divisive since the set up of health districts. And, as with our health districts, the final insult would be for APAS to appoint some members to their inner sanctum - just to make sure it goes 'their' way.
