As a school principal I was always convinced that our teaching
methods and our way of acculturation, that we all refer to as our school system required
risk taking and experimentation (Our system of education is that in name only because
our schools are publicly funded and socially controlled, the process, the attitudes
and value structure, is far more then 70% related to the perceived needs of the society
and its use of the school system to address those needs.) Therefore, as a principal
I felt it was my responsibility to never lose sight of the need to devote some of
my time and that of my students towards research and explorations of alternative
means of learning that might serve the student better and reach a better compromise
between the need for intellectual development and socio-economic-political training. |
