At the end of June each year when course evaluation in the
form of examinations take place, there seemed to be a time of about two weeks were
the weather seems less then comfortable inside the school classroom and teachers
and their classes sneak off for a few ball games. With a little structuring, I discovered
that I could create, during this period of time, a situation where the curriculum
could handle a few outdoor activities. With practice and experience I worked this
into a special school year within a school year and implemented the project for ten
years. My teachers and students each year related to this less then tradition class
activity, which really was in fact traditional, far more traditional then classrooms
and chalkboards, and related to small group projects, outdoor experiences and connected
to the pre-literal world of education. |
