Spring overhead
Wednesday
April 7, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Though often take the sky and the scenes it presents for granted, each season has its own special sky signature and spring is by far the most spectacular. Here are night pictures of the spring sky over the last three days. Interestingly enough despite the foreboding nature of the images no rain fell on me from these skies seen in these pictures.

Wednesday
April 7, 2010
by: Michael Townsend

The Doghide runneth over
Wednesday
March 31, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Yesterday it was a peaceful river flowing along nicely for the first time this year. Today it is a flood stage pouring out of its banks and swamping the low lying areas but not threatening any houses or property as these are the places it usually floods.
The Book of Kells and Trinity
Wednesday
March 31, 2010
by: Michael Townsend

Dublin, Ireland: The Irish quite rightly consider The Book of Kells as one of the most remarkable works in the world. The first four gospels of the New Testament created by three master craftsmen more than a thousand years ago is housed in the Dublin Trinity College Library. Michael went there to see it and this is his story.
The Doghide starts to flow
Tuesday
March 30, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Though the melting has been proceeding for a month the water has just been gradually moving along and the Doghide itself has up until today just been a wandering pond. That warm temperature last night and the fields and streams are now moving and the little Doghide river ceased being a pond and is a nice, well behaved river conducting the water through and beyond town staying within its banks.
Surprises of Ireland
Tuesday
March 30, 2010
by: Michael Townsend

Ireland: Palm trees in Killarney, Bikers in Belfast and a Belfast hockey rink. Ireland's charm is very much in the way it has continued to adapt to the world in which it finds itself. Ireland is one of the leading technological countries in Europe with computer technology, IT and aviation all melded into the complexities of a very modern society.

Car
Friday
March 26, 2010
by: Michael Townsend

Ireland: So you have a rented car, driving on the other side of the road and trying to see the country. So, what do you do? Simple you adapt. Mike dug back through his experiences and realised by using skills from decades ago the fearful could be turned around to become fun and adventure.
The Greenwater report
Wednesday
March 24, 2010
by: Gerald Crawford

Saskatoon: Garage sale season has returned and the Crawfords are on the hunt for the perfect bargain once again. Last weekend they were even out to Clavet. Looks like Gerald is over his spring fever and enjoying coffee and going out to the theatre.
Do you need to win the lottery?
Friday
March 19, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Weekes: So what is that you need, what is that you want out of life and are you unhappy because you don't have what you need or what you want.? These are questions you need to think about.
March 1974
Thursday
March 18, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Weekes: March in Saskatchewan can be one of the most harsh months of the year. Just consider last year when the temperature in the middle of the month was below -30ºC for days. Today we go back to 1974 when it was cold, windy and there was much more snow than needed.
In Dublin
Wednesday
March 17, 2010
by: Michael Townsend

Dublin Ireland: Mike is in Dublin and watching the St. Patrick's Day parade. But, in the picture notice that his camera is around his neck. This picture and one other were taken with his Apple iPhone camera and sent to us here in Tisdale at 10:15 local time this morning.

Quarter section seeder
Tuesday
March 16, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: There are big combines, big tractors, big deep tillage machines but now there's a big air seeder. Bourgault Industries of St. Brieux has produced a monsterous 700 bushel grain tank for its seeding system that when full of seed and fertilizer has the capacity to do a whole quarter section field without having to stop and reload.
Regina a rural city
Monday
March 15, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Regina: Saskatchewan and Canada are not frozen in time but continue to change and evolve. This story deals with the changes and attempts to give us some perspective into what that change might mean for the way we define the provincial capital.
The Greenwater report
Monday
March 15, 2010
by: Gerald Crawford

Saskatoon: This week's Greenwater report is one of those gems from Gerald as he tells us about his honey moon with a new car, a march storm and a camper trailer some fifty-seven years ago.
Ridgedale in March
Thursday
March 11, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Ridgedale: Elevators gone or closed, school closed, a community that one might think of as in retreat but in many ways still a viable community and clearly still the home and work place for a good number of people. Here are some pictures taken last Friday of the community and some interesting aspects to what can be see just driving around in Ridgedale.
