Rafters for house ten
July 27, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Begun on June 21 this is the first house to be built in what is Tisdale's newest developing part of town. Last year water and sewer services were installed on what will in time become a new street just east of Heritage Road. This is a fairly big house sitting atop a wood basement with a south view.

Tim's Tip of the Day

Though we all speak of a 'place' being some physical location it is not. What is a place is time dependent. The 'place' of today is different from yesterday and quite unlike what it will be tomorrow. Place without time is irrelevant. (Click on thumb nail to see full size.)

Find of the day

A history of folly, from the Trojan horse to Afghanistan
The conflict in Afghanistan was entered by the US and NATO while ignoring history. Now it is clear from the leaking of documents that the whole process is a failure with no hope of success in any form. The issue of Pakistan is out of focus.

Happenings In Tisdale:

Ploughing it under
July 26, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: More showers yesterday added to the difficulty of even destroying the illfated crop of 2010. Fields right around Tisdale are to wet for farmers to work the ruined crop down but in other areas farmers are busy at the task.
Locally generated weather
July 23, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: With so much water laying in the fields day time heating each day fills the skies with rising towering cumulus clouds as the evaporating moisture climbs into the atmosphere and forms clouds at the condensation level.
Housing start eight, a duplex
July 20, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Tucked in between the Maple Ridge Condo and the other dwelling on the block a new duplex is taking shape with the almost all of the internal and external walls standing. On monday house eleven got underway as a new basement was created on the Fairy Glen cul-de-sac.
Some clouds and fields
July 15, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: These pictures taken over the last few days show the Canola crops in bloom and the awesome forces that trundle through the prairie sky. The accompanyment is "Badaboom" from the sound track of the movie "The Fifth Element" by Eric Serra.
Flowers and a robin
July 13, 2010
by: Matthew Shire

Regina: One evening a week ago Matthew wandered around his Regina yard with camera in hand and collected this interest group of thirty-four images. These images were taken with a Canon Rebel and a telophoto lens. However, the robin was unpreturbed by his picture taking and was about five to six feet away in these pictures. We present these images in a slide show accompanied by Diana Krall's Narrow Daylight from "The Girl in the other room" album.
'30 Rock' Saskatchewan Express
July 12, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Greenwater Water Lake Provincial Park: Each year Saskatchewan Express tours Saskatchewan's provincial parks and they were in the midst of that tour this past Friday when they performed to a really big crows at Greenwater. Each year's show is distinctive with the character of the performers coming through. This year is no exception with this being their thirtieth anniversary the show was just under an hour and a half pact with hits and non-stop action on stage.
House number nine
July 8, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Situated on the east side of New Market one of the few remaining lots available is the site for the ninth housing start of the year. The eighth project, a duplex, is not progrressing very quickly but does have its floor in place and construction on its walls is about to begin. House 9 has most of its exterior frame in place and the work crew is beginning the process of assembling the inside partitions. This project got underway on June 10 so it right about the month since it began development.
Little crop in bloom
July 7, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: The heavy rain and high water table is combining to take a fatal toll on the crops that did get planted. With only half the fields planted (less in some areas) the yields will be very low on those crops planted because these conditions and flooding just will not make for a positive harvest.
Canada Day fireworks at Crooked Lake
July 5, 2010
by: Matthew Shire

Crooked Lake: Each July first George and Linda Broda host a huge family gathering at their cabin at Crooked Lake and the evening is capped off with a fireworks display. This year there was ten knots of wind to deal with but the show went on and Matthew captured some of the scenes for you to enjoy. It will keep on playing until you click on "Ensign" to return to the front page.
The Greeenwater report
July 5, 2010
by: Gerald Crawford

Radisson & Battleford: This week's report takes us out to Radisson to visit their unique museum then off to the crooked bush and then to Shell Lake's Memorial Lake Regional Park.
"B" train rollover at Estlin
June 30, 2010
by: Stu Innes

Estlin: Saskatchewan's roads and highways are home to thousands of grain haulers who run around the clock get their loads to their destinations. It is surprising how few run into difficulty. Last night near Eslin south of Regina a "B" train did a complete rollover from wheels to roof back to wheels with only slight injuries to the driver.
