Monday
December 27, 2010
by: Michael Townsend

Yuma, Arizona: Many Canadians go South for the winter just like the birds and some stay in Arizona. Two days before Christmas Mike Townsend captured a bit of the spirit and the environment around a Canadian colony in the desert.

by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale:Our family is on the road tonight on their way to join us for Christmas and a few days more. The tree is up, the gifts are wrapped and I am confident that they Christmas pudding cooking right now will be a delight to us all on Saturday. With the family here there will not be much time for working on Ensign so we will get back to you after the week end to consider the prospects for the coming year. Have yourself a Merry Christmas and may this season bless everyone you know.

House Sixteen
Thursday
December 23, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale:This is the sixteenth housing start in 2010. There is still one more to be considered a 2010 house and one of this year's projects did not take place. An old dwelling was destroyed and the lot prepared for construction to the point that established in my picture collection as house 5 but the project did not proceed.

Small doesn't come close to describing the way computer components have shrunk during the past decade. It is beyond our imagination what the next ten years will bring. Though we often marvel at the advances in software, the progress of hardware development is relentless and exponential. With reduced size comes lower operating temperatures and improved performance. A Bear-y Merry Holiday
Tuesday
December 21, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale:It is much a part of going to school as homework and spelling bees. The annual Christmas concert is a rite of passage for a child in kindergarten and we are taking you along to a modern version of a concert in Regina.

Wednesday
December 15, 2010
by: Sylvia Jones

Campbell River, British Columbia:Many people from around the world visit this web site each week but among the most faithful visitors are former Tisdale people and their families. It seems to be a good way to see some pictures of their community. Sylvia Jones graduated from TUCS in the late 60s and she and many of her friends are planning a get together in Penticton in October 2011.

This past week in pictures
Saturday
December 11, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Almost every day there is time for a drive around town or out into the surrounding countryside and of course that means an opportunity to capture the scenes. We have had a lot of cloudy and foggy weather this past week and these pictures show how the snow level is continuing to rise as the cover on the fields and yards is slowly building up. This set of 46 images are some of this week's collection.

Narrowing the income gap in Canada
Thursday
December 9, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Canada's very wealthy are mostly CEOs and business executives each earning millions annually. Canada's poor are growing in numbers rapidly and their incomes shrinking while the middle class remains smaller but stagnant in income growth. This situation is not good for the country and it is not good for it's people, rich or poor.
Postmedia newspaper apps for the iPad
Wednesday
December 8, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Saturday the company that has taken over most of Canada's newspapers from CanWest Global, Postmedia made their "apps" available across the country. The popularity of the iPad is a force to be reconed with as more and more of these things are in the hands of people looking for uses for it.
Frosty
Thursday
December 2, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: Little amounts of snow have been drifting down from the sky each day and on Wednesday night there was fog which of course resulted in the usual coating of frost on the trees and fences. Since the wind was from the south the frost was most noticable on the south side of the trees. Almost all of the pictures in this group of twenty-eight are shown here in black and white.
Maritime autumn
Thursday
December 2, 2010
by: Ken Jones

Halifax: Last year on December 1 Ensign posted a remarkable set of pictures from Halifax of autumn. This year's set of pictures is much smaller but the dramatic images are have just as much impact. The photos have been combined into a QuickTime movie and may take a little time to download.
Political distaste
Tuesday
November 30, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: This is a discussion about some unsettling trends in our Canadian society and in this story the point is made that we are slipping toward an unquestioning and unreasonable form of political reality. The introduction of a one sided news channel is a serious matter for this country and does not produce balance but rather heads us toward the abyss of one minded, one acceptable ideology for all.
