Saskatoon: After taking a break for the holidays the Crawfords are back with us this week filling us in on their activities over the holidays. They went to and enjoyed a performance at Persephone Theatre, enjoyed time with family and friends and on Christmas toured the Enchanted Forest which will be open to tours until January 10th.

A new year and a new decade

Tisdale: There is no known cure for the continuous pressure of time. So it is that once again a year and a decade draws to a close and we must look into the coming year and the coming decade to consider what may befall us as time moves onward. This tradtion of making predictions for the coming year extends backward through the history of this web site and far beyond that. There have been times when the predictions have come to pass and other times when the future was simply of the specs. This year will be no better and perhaps no worse than others.

Tisdale: This truly one of those things that seems remarkably unrelated to its name. Evergreen trees decorated, Father Christmas, Santa Claus, Frosty the snowman, Rudolph the Rednosed reindeer, mistletoe, holly, gift giving, egg nog. . . the list is endless and all of these familiar things are only marginally related to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth 2009 years ago, give a decade one way or the other. So indeed what is this "season" really all about?

Tisdale: Though we in Tisdale prefer to recycle paper products rather then have them go off to the landfill but alas that is simply no longer an option in our community. Ken has come up with one way he can make use of something that we all throw away.

Canalta gets its first floor walls

Tisdale: Work has been going on feverishly this past week and over the weekend including Sunday as the steel and wood construction of the first floor for the new motel takes shape between the Co-op Cardlock and Robin's Donuts. This story shows the development since the initial story back on October 22nd.

House number nineteen

Tisdale: Construction in Tisdale looks like it is going right to the end of the year as this week the nineteenth housing start of the year. This involved a number of houses moved into Tisdale both nearly new and old but also two duplex, one triplex and a fourplex which actually means that their were 26 housing units created in Tisdale during this calendar year. Number 19 is being assembled by Farber Construction and is located on the north loop of Forrester.

Prince Albert: Fender benders look pretty harmless until you are in one and the force of the smash is astonishing. While in the flow of traffic last Thursday night the third vehicle to cross on a green light we were struck by another vehicle who attempted to get through a red light and we were in the way. A successful shopping trip ended in a very broken car and for me really sore ribs.

Saskatoon: Still doing a bit of Christmas shopping but always time for coffee. This week's report tells us about an interesting grade eight class that hikes around the city all year round and from their adventures are learning to get along with each other and their environment.

Tisdale: Steadily Martin Doyle expanded his business in downtown Tisdale moving into a larger building, expanding it to two floors of display area, opening a closed store as a specialty bedroom furniture shop and calling it the 3rd Floor, then expanding into the Mall for some months then this past summer took over the Coffee Shop and made it the 4th Floor. Now the time has come for Martin Doyle to sell this thriving business so it can continue to service this and surrounding communities.

New Mac Mini

Tisdale: Almost microscopic in comparison to the five year old G5 Macintosh that it replaces. This is a 2.53Ghz dual core Intel processor computer with 4 GB of memory, a 350 GB drive, a two sided DVD burner and except for a little brick of a power supply what you see in the picture is the whole story. The wireless antenna and Bluetooth antenna is in the top and it is hooked up to two 23 in screens and a new wireless "magic mouse." The operating system is "Snow Leopard" 10.6.2.

Saskatoon: The lake froze over on November 24th but it has gotten pretty chilly in Saskatoon. Gerald is concerned about the hazards of winter travel but got a real kick out of a huge craft fair this past weekend. Thanks to Mike Tatarynovich we have an excellent family picture of the Crawfords.

Water break shuts down RECPlex

Tisdale: TMSS and all other portions of the RECPlex were shut down this morning when a massive water break was discovered where the main water feed to the building ruptured flooding the crawls space beneath TMSS. The work crews repaired the eight inch water main up to six feet of water has to be removed from under the building in order to get it ready to open for school on Monday.

Tisdale: Sixty Tisdale and Melfort superannuated teachers got together at the Tisdale Golden Age Centre today for a turkey dinner and a shared time together today.

Tisdale: Although building a new home is a big deal my hat goes off to those who choose to just take the one they have and make it better or bigger. I remember as a kid living in a house being rebuilt by CNR's B&B and count that as one of the most disruptive things that could happen to a family, yet every year folks go for home improvements.
