Bah, Olympic humbug
Wednesday
February 10, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: This writer has a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the slipping sliding and rain drenched activities that will be called the Vancouver Olympics. The stories about it are pointless and the games are mostly fixed.

Wednesday
February 10, 2010
by: Beverly Smith

Calgary: The Canadian Prime Minister made a big deal of doing something about the health of women and children at the G7 meeting last week but when it comes to talking about the economy or anything else for that matter there are no women involved.

Tim's Tip of the Day

There are many who feel that we are all adicted to the past and this hampers us from moving into the present and future. I quite disagree, without awareness and some understanding of what shaped the past we have no future. (Click on thumb nail to see full size.)

Toyota recalls may not solve problem, experts says
Automobile safety experts think that Toyota's problems are not over but are just beginning because the evidence is mounting that uncontrollable accelleration and brake failures are not mechanical but electronic.

by: Timothy W. Shire

Regina: Regina is experiencing a serious baby boom with more than thirty new arrivals each and every day. Early Sunday morning our third grand daughter, Ella, was one of them. A small baby of only five and a quarter pounds but a full term infant and a very peaceful one at that. Her mother Dawn and her are expected to leave hospital tomorrow.
Cold clear light

Tisdale: Low temperatures and clear skies produce startling images for the photographer and viewer alike. It would seem appropriate to apply this simple principle to other realms to get to the core and delve into the real issues that confront us as a people and as citizens of a nation.

Tisdale: This company has been a major player in the agricultural industry in Tisdale and during this past year has been making a gradual move from its old elevator facility to a new layout in the former Newform Packaging plant that at one time served as the Tisdale Recorder's printing plant and a honey storage facility before that. The transformation of the facility is documented in this story.

Tisdale: Throughout Saskatchewan strange snow shapes have developed on anything on the leaside of the North wind that brought the heavy snow this past weekend. Cars, pickups, trees and just about anything else can be swallowed up by these formations that take an unusual form of their shaped by the movement of the winds that deposited the snow.

Wednesday
January 27, 2010
by: Darlene McCullough

Tisdale: Bad weather saw six die hard members out for this month's photography club meeting and they had their work cut out for them with several provincial level photography contest collections to judge. The highlight of the club's activities for this month was doing presentations to the various senior citizens homes here in Tisdale.
Cleanup going well
Tuesday
January 26, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire

Tisdale: The school buses ran today for Tisdale's schools and almost all of the streets in the community are passable but that is not the case with the country roads. The cleanup is going quite well but a steady drifting wind blew all day from the west causing problems for north and south country roads.
It stormed a bit
Monday

by: Timothy W. Shire

Images by: Judy and Timothy Shire

Tisdale: The storm that enveloped all of southern and central Saskatchewan left a good deal of snow behind it the most we have seen dumped in Tisdale in the past 15 years. This however, the part of January when such storms are common and no one was particularily surprised other then for once Environment Canada actually got this one right.
The Greenwater report
Monday
January 25, 2010
by: Gerald Crawford

Saskatoon: Like the rest of in Saskatchewan the weather definitely got Gerald attention and like most drivers he had get out there and try driving in difficult conditions only to get stuck in his driveway. But, he survived and lived to tell us the tale for another week.
There's got to be a reason
Tuesday
January 19, 2010
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Many folks who take their religion seriously quite honestly believe that it is not for us humble and clearly limited humans to understand the great mysteries and we must accept that all things are part of Gods plan. That makes a good story but little by little the fog of awareness creeps forward as we are able to glean more and more about our past which indeed explains our present and future. This doesn't mean all things are cleared up it just means we are ever finding out new truths.
The Greenwater report

by: Gerald Crawford

Gerald gives us some insight into the recent mild winter we have been enduring and gives us something to think about as the news of our world saddens each day with more very bad news from Haiti.

by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
The devastation and tragic loss of life in Haiti affects us because we are a nation of immigrants who share life on this planet with others who are at time faced with massive challenges and it is for us to reach out give a hand and do the right thing.
