Tisdale: It has been a mild winter so far this season so the -30º this morning with its stiff north wind felt appallingly cold. But the facts of the matter are clear each day we get just a bit more sunlight as we head toward late winter and in a short while spring once more.

Tisdale: After a storm the huge network of rural roads that service farms and their families have to be cleared and maintained. That job goes to the Royal Municipalities and their dedicated grader operators who work against the wind.

Victoria B.C.: I am not certain that we will all sleep better tonight knowing that federal Natural Resources minister Gary Lund is now personally taking charge of nuclear safety in Canada after firing Linda Keen the official who's job it was to protect Canadians from nuclear disasters.

Tisdale: Though today's storm was expected to track to the south of us it is mid January and it is typical of this time for storms like this to pay a visit. White out conditions with snow and blowing snow. Fortunately the temperature is in the teens and the storm is expected to move through the area quite quickly.

Success: Edwin and Daren Wallace have cooked up yet another energy efficiency device in the farm shop. This machine converts paper products, household waste and wood chips into a useable fuel for their shop built furnace.

Tisdale: One tie and seven loses this season is a huge turn around from the team's performance last season as the team won their sixth straight game in a row last night in a two to one win over the Saskatoon Contacts.

Tisdale: Joan Beatty is a natural for the massive northern riding that is about half the land mass of Saskatchewan but she is a sitting NDP member of the legislature and the Liberal riding association is holding an emergency meeting Saturday to plan their own nominating convention for the riding. So much of Dion's leadership.
