- Oshkosh - First Look
- Sunday, August 24, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire & Andrew Shire
We arrived in Oshkosh the first day of the enormous Experimental Aircraft Association
convention, AirVenture 2003 on July 29th. This story deals with the impressions and
sights of that day. My goal was to see the legendary Chuck Yeager and as you can
see I got what I was after. This page contains a QuickTime Virtual reality
image (444K) and to be seen requires that QuickTime
be installed in your computer.

- Thank you again Professor Paul Krugman:
Some clarity on the $38 billion California budget deficit
- Sunday, August 24, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
Californians got seriously burned in the ENRON scandal which was partly to blame
for the energy crisis their state experienced. The campaign is on to oust the governor
but Professor Paul Krugman suggests that the truth may be getting in the way of a
good campaign. This one you have to read the references to get the story.

- An upside down world led by the finest
liars
- Friday, August 22, 2003
Prior to the US invasion of Iraq there was no terrorism in the country now it is
an everyday occurance, as the country is still almost entirely without power, unemployment
is the norm and now even the UN attempting to bring aide to the place has taken a
serious hit as the man who had been expected to succeed the Secretary General is
a victim with many others including two Canadians. Mr. deSantis leads us to consider
some of the underlying issues, be sure to check out the references.

- The Road to Oshkosh
- Sunday, August 17, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
We often hear the cliche that "getting there is half the fun." For most
of us the travel to a destination is a means to an end but on this trip the travel
across three states by Interstate and the day light awareness of the country through
which we travelled became a separate adventure. This page has sixty seven pictures.

- Breast Cancer Screening Programme
- Thursday, August 14, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
Throughout North American one in every eight women will develop breast cancer. As
a society we have to do what we can to give woman a fair shot at dealing with this
incredible threat.

- Gay Marriage . . . And Then
What?
- Thursday, August 14, 2003
by: Ron Thornton
This issue will be dealt with by parliament this fall as it attempts to cope with
court rulings and the intention of the government to find a compromise. But what
are the possible consequences of changing the definition of the fundamental core
of our society.

- Ottawa’s Kyoto plan:
Another billion-dollar boondoggle
- Thursday, August 14, 2003
by: Walter Robinson
The concern Mr. Robinson brings to our attention is that the Government simply doesn't
know what it is doing with this huge project. The present proposals sound like massive
spending of taxpayer's money in a variety of programmes that have little prospect
of producing the desired result.

- Harvest 2003
- Wednesday, August 13, 2003
by: Timothy W. Shire
The half way mark in this year's harvest is approaching quickly as most farmers have
or are just finishing their peas. Wheat and barley are being straight combined and
most advanced Canola crops are already in the swath.

- Catholics are bound by conscience
to adhere to the Pope's teachings
- Wednesday, August 13, 2003
by: Rudy Fernandes
It is important to understand the mind set of our fellow citizens and Mr. Fernandes
gives us a look on the pro-Bishop Henry side of things. It would have been nice for
Bishop Henry to have been as vocal when the issue of Catholic priest and sexual abuse
of children was in the news. For many of us the Roman Catholic Church has lost all
moral authority as it condones and contributes to sexual abuse by its priests and
leaders.

- The game theory
of Policy Analysis Market (PAM):Bush's attempt to make terrorism a
commodity of the Free Market
- Wednesday, August 13, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
Mario deSantis developed this remarkable story over a week ago but we were unable
to get it to you until now. Sometimes, and this is one of those times real events
are much wilder than anything anyone could dream up as fiction.

- The No-Fault Insurance
of the Free Market: No fault with Dr. Cassidy, SGI, University of Saskatchewan
and Dr. McLennan
- Wednesday, August 13, 2003
by: Mario deSantis
Three years ago we figured out that the provincial insurance company was using the
University of Saskatchewan to create some evidence for their no fault scheme. Now
the research has been declared invalid by the University's ethics committee but the
fools are still circling the wagons and the University's credibility and ability
to attract research is history.
