Greenwater Lake Provincial Park:
The Crawfords were in heaven last weekend as they spent it at Greenwater Lake Provincial Park. Had meals at the Cove and golf course and coffee at the Cove and lunch in Perigord. You can tell it recharged their batteries as they soaked in the fall colours, the coffee row banter and the Rider football game.

Tim's Tip of the Day

While Americans struggle with their lack of health care in their country for more people than the population of Canada, we need to renew our system so that we do a better job of serving all Canadians of all ages. (Click on thumb nail to see full size.)

DNA test shows Hitler
skull is that of a woman

It may be that historians may have to re-write the last day of Nazi Germany as a skull fragment found by the Red Army and thought to be that of Adolph Hitler turns out to be the skull of a woman and not Hitler at all.

It was a really short summer
Monday
September 28, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
With frost last night and perhaps tonight as well we are definitely long past summer and for many Saskatchewan farms still thousands of acres to go before this year's harvest is over. The signs of a cold summer are not only in the fields but everywhere you look. In the future forestry people will look at the small growth rings and point out that that was the summer of 2009.

by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
The whole school took to the streets in their annual walk. It was really a sight to behold with the entire street filled with happy smiling children. The staff and a good number of parent made the journey with the students and the brilliant sunshine and 22ºC temperatures made it the perfect weather for the outing.

Tuesday
September 22, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire

The first story in Ensign about Pleasantdale was in June of 1998. It was time to revisit this pastural community and see it as it is now. So we have nine pictures of the community and though things have changed much remains the same.
Kipabiskau Regional Park
Monday
September 21, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale:
Ensign was shut down this past week as we rebuilt and refurbished the office but today we visited one of Saskatchewan's most elegant regional parks. In many ways Kipabiskau rivals many of Saskatchewan's provincial parks with its upkeep and outstanding layout. Though we are getting into fall, Kipabiskau is still in summer. A remarkable cottage owner's paradise.

Watrous:
We catch up on our motor home vagabonds as they spent a weekend and a little more at Manitou Regional Park at Watrous. Gerald obviously avoided the mineral brinny water the place is famous for as he didn't mention it once but we know he had a great time with their Sunseeker buddies.

Monday

Two major thoroughfares are being completely rebuilt as damage to these streets was so extensive resurfacing was not an option. The weather has not hampered the progress as the work is marching right along.

Bringing it in
Thursday
September 10, 2009
by: Judy and Timothy Shire
Tisdale:
This year's harvest is staggering along. There is a wide spread in the time various fields were planted and it is a test of considerable magnitude for farmers to get it off in a timely fashion. Most years the crops are sequential from one variety to another as they mature, but this year we see wheat, barley and canola all being harvested as they come ready.

Mr. Hueglin brings forth a warning about the rush by government to appear to be doing something about what is potentially a very dangerous influenza epidemic. But it is your responsibility to keep yourself informed and measure the actions being taken.
