Tim's Tip of the Day

Kevin's find of the day

Town launches its own Lewes Pound
A British town has decided to print its own money to encourage its people to shop at home. Promotions like this have been carried out in most Saskatchewan communities at one time or another but rarely does such a project get such wide attention as this one in East Sussex UK

Happenings In Tisdale:

  • Tuesday, September 16, 8:00 RECPlex, Trojans play Saskatoon Blazers in exhibition Midget AAA hockey

Canadian Sovereignty
Monday
September 15, 2008
by: Wayne Pietz
Brampton, Ontario: No one is talking about this issue in the election and they certainly should be. Is the Conservative government moving toward union with the United States and Mexico? The secret negotiations are going on and Canadians are being kept in the dark.
The Greenwater report
Monday
September 15, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: The motor home is tucked away for the season and preparations are underway to get ready for the bus tour of Northeastern United States. It seems that Mr. Crawford is a bit annoyed at the price of gasoline.
Smith River in 1961
Friday
September 12, 2008
by: Allan Bird
Smith River B.C.: Smith River airport is in the wilderness between Fort Nelson B.C. and Watson Lake Yukon. Built to support the war effort it remained in operation after the war. Allan Bird worked as a radio operator in 1961 and provides us with a picture of the tower and a Beaver on the strip.
Sunny skies and the grain is flowing
Thursday
September 11, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: A remarkable sight this afternoon, driving north of Tisdale into "combine country". In some areas all the fields are harvested then about eight miles northwest there were combines in every field in sight.
House twenty-one takes shape
Thursday
September 11, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Farber Construction is well on its way with this project begun August 25. This house will have its roof in place by this time next week.
Running on your record, Mr. Harper?
Tuesday
September 9, 2008
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria BC: The main issue in the Canadian federal election is the Prime Minister himself who makes all decisions of his government and has failed to develop any sort of team or support from his often pathetic cabinet.
Canada: Peace Maker and Paramedic
Tuesday
September 9, 2008
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls, Ontario: Not even in World War I was Canada to give over its control over its own forces and submit to the policies of other nations, yet the Harper government has essentially made the Canadian Armed Forces part of the US National Guard. Canada does not have any business protecting a drug economy Afghanistan or defending a US pipeline yet that is what we have had nearly one hundred Canadians die for.
House twenty moves to Forester
Monday
September 8, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Not counting several mobile homes we now have twenty additional housing starts in Tisdale this year and basements and footings underway for four more.
The Greenwater report
Monday
September 8, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: A weekend with the Sunseekers at Watrous and a visit the Martinsville Barn Playhouse are among some of the things in this week's report. Merv Miller is out of hospital and Gerald had to do some baby sitting.
TMSS Tornados play Nipawin Bears
Friday
September 5, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Tisdale football fans are not very vocal but they are definitely dedicated as the stands were filled this afternoon for the season opening game with Nipawin.
Rain not a serious interruption
Thursday
September 4, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Most of us non-farmers thought the recent series of rain showers would be a major set back for this year's harvest. But, that is just not the case.
Riders support KidSport with charity calendar
Wednesday
September 3, 2008
Press release, Images by Ken Jones
Regina: With the help of SaskEnergy the Saskatchewan Roughriders laundhed their 2009 Saskatchewan Roughrider Charity Calender
Work begins on 35
Tuesday
September 2, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The first section of #35 highway south of town was tore up today and the makings of a new surface begun. Also the widening of the intersection and entrance to Louis Dreyfus has begun.
The Greenwater report
Tuesday
September 2, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: In this week's report to catch up on how some Greenwater folks are doing and learn of the passing of a lady from Wynyard. Meanwhile Crawfords are moving into their townhouse and getting ready for a three week bus tour of eastern United States.
What should the election be about?
Tuesday
September 2, 2008
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria B. C.: Mr. Parks takes the view that the decisions that politicians make are something for which they should be made accountable. In this case he is pointing an accusatory finger at the prime minister.
Parrish & Heimbecker begins work on terminal
Tuesday
September 2, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: With the demise of ENSASK the former Tisdale Dehydration plant property became available and has been purchased by the grain company Parrish & Heimbecker. Work has begun to get the property ready for the construction of a concrete grain terminal.
"on your side" poor choice as slogan for Conservative Party of Canada
Tuesday
September 2, 2008
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls: The Harper government have had serveral slogans and almost all of them have meant the opposite to the actions taken by the government. In this story Mr. Hueglin points out some of the less than credible actions taken by a government supposed to be looking out for the interests of the people of the country.
Tisdale and area Superannuates; annual to Hell with the bell meeting
Friday
August 29, 2008
by: Darlene McCullough
Tisdale: Fifty-three retired teachers met at the golf course on the first day of classes to enjoy each other's company and have breakfast.
Lilies
Thursday
August 28, 2008
Images by: Ken Jones
Regina: Each spring Ken shares with us his annual pictures of Qu'Appelle Valley crocuses and through the years he has sent along some other dazzling images but these lilies are truly remarkable.
Western Commodities Trading Inc.
Wednesday
August 27, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: A new agricultural commodities business is operating in Tisdale. After fifteen years of business in Spalding WCT Inc. has moved to Tisdale where it is buying and selling grain from producers and marketing the product to markets often as close as possible to the producer as possible.
Election? You bet!
Wednesday
August 27, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The Prime Minister has been sounding the warning steadily since the middle of last week that he is going to call an election this fall. The facts of the matter are dead simple, he has identified himself and his country so closely to the United States their politics is now overshadowing all Canadian issues which really are no longer Canadian issues and the writing is on the wall, if you wait until after Obama is elected it is oblivion for Harper and company.
19.7 km of #35 to get new surface
Tuesday
August 26, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Clearly the condition of highway 35 south of Tisdale is well below acceptable and it seems the Department of Highways is going to do something about twenty kilometres of it by adding a new surface. Survey crews were on hand today working south of town and the equipment to do the project is parked at the former Shell bulk plant on the south side of town.
Harvest 2008
Monday
August 25, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Harvest got underway late last week and today everyone is in full "let's get it done" mode. Three combines in this wheat field north of town this afternoon and the canola field across the road all swathed. Meanwhile, the Co-op's yard full of metal grain tanks is completely empty.
The Greenwater report
Monday
August 25, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Carstairs Alberta: The Crawfords are off visiting relatives in Alberta and this week's report tells us about the crops along the way and how the dogs are doing. But, there is a great picture of a giant blue heron.
