Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - His Life, All His Works and More
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is the creator of Sherlock Holmes and this fabulous web site tells all there is to know about the famous author but also has the full text to all of the Sherlock Holmes books, novels and short stories. Essentially this is a complete library online. |
Happenings In Tisdale: |

|
|
|
- Election? You bet!
- Wednesday
August 27, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The Prime Minister has been sounding the warning steadily since the middle of last week that he is going to call an election this fall. The facts of the matter are dead simple, he has identified himself and his country so closely to the United States their politics is now overshadowing all Canadian issues which really are no longer Canadian issues and the writing is on the wall, if you wait until after Obama is elected it is oblivion for Harper and company.

- 19.7 km of #35 to get new surface
- Tuesday
August 26, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Clearly the condition of highway 35 south of Tisdale is well below acceptable and it seems the Department of Highways is going to do something about twenty kilometres of it by adding a new surface. Survey crews were on hand today working south of town and the equipment to do the project is parked at the former Shell bulk plant on the south side of town.

- Harvest 2008
- Monday
August 25, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Harvest got underway late last week and today everyone is in full "let's get it done" mode. Three combines in this wheat field north of town this afternoon and the canola field across the road all swathed. Meanwhile, the Co-op's yard full of metal grain tanks is completely empty.

- The Greenwater report
- Monday
August 25, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Carstairs Alberta: The Crawfords are off visiting relatives in Alberta and this week's report tells us about the crops along the way and how the dogs are doing. But, there is a great picture of a giant blue heron.

- 1947 Aeronca 11CC Super Chief
- Friday
August 22, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: This amazingly well preserved version of an aircraft sixty-one years old dropped into Tisdale this past week. With an 85 horse power Continental engine it is said to cruise with two passengers sitting side by side at 97 miles an hour.
|
- Trojan intersquad game launches the season
- Monday
August 18, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The main selection camp was held this past weekend and wrapped up the event with the final selection of players who will make up the team of 2008-2009.
|

by: Gerald Crawford
Rosthern: This week's report lets us go along on a weekend camping trip with the Sunseeker's club and visit Valley campground at Rosthern as well as sample other points of interest between Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
|
- Wings over White Rock
- Fridiay
August 15, 2008
by: Brian Marlatt
White Rock B.C.: This past weekend the Abbotsford Åir Show was on, so this is an excellent time to show you some highlights from the July 30th Wings over White Rock show which had been held as a fund raiser for the C.H.I.L.D. Foundation. (Children with Intestinal and Liver Disorder)
|
- The Greenwater report
- Wednesday
August 13, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Hafford: This week's report takes us on a tour of the crooked trees north of Saskatoon and some other rustic attractions that are a delight to discover and our benefit for Gerald to tell us about them.
|
- Haying
- Thursday
August 7, 2008
Images by: Dawn Shire
Gravelbourg: This is a large picture essay of Dawn Shire's pictures of this past weekend's haying operation on her parents small farm north of Gravelbourg. This is not state of the art agriculture but the way a family can and often does cope with the needs on an organic small farm in rural Saskatchewan.
|
- Saskatoons - a good year
- Wednesday
August 6, 2008
by: Judy Shire
Weekes: An exceptional year for these scrumptious berries that grow naturally all over Saskatchewan. Just like this year's crops the saskatoons in 2008 are outstanding and in their prime right now.
|
- House one in place
- Wednesday
August 6, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The basement was dug April 8th and a wood basement constructed but no development for most of the summer. Now a new house sits on the basement of the site where a house was consumed in fire last year.
|
- Van fails to make it home from Winnipeg
- Tuesday
August 5, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Glossop Manitoba: Holiday travel is always a matter of chance taking and driving new or twelve year old vehicles seems to make no difference when it comes to mechanical failure. Yesterday afternoon on our way home from Winnipeg the Windstar's transmission departed to that great mechanical wasteland in the sky.
|
- The Greenwater report
- Tuesday
August 5, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Time for a walk in a park and a salute to a passing Wynyard friend. The motor home gets repaired and some thoughts on modern housing construction and design.
|
- The Greenwater report
- Monday
July 28, 2008
by: Gerald Crawford
Glaslyn: The Crawfords were out with a Saskatoon travel RV group and spent the weekend at Little Loon Regional Park five miles from Glaslyn.
|
- New north perimeter road for Tisdale
- Thursday
July 24, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: North on NewMarket past Forester and the pumping station and you will discover a new road being created to permit access into Tisdale's newest neighbourhood.
|
- Business changes in Tisdale
- Tuesday
July 22, 2008
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Shamrock Auto recycling has shut down and the property sold. Its hard to say if we are seeing retraction in Tisdale's business community as some businesses go out of operation while at the same time the local economy seems to be strong and doing well.
