Reason not rhetoric necessary

Friday
February 23, 2007
by : Chris Schmurr
Windsor Ontario :
The news media has realised the public's concern over environmental issues and the politicians are scrambling to out green one another. This story points out the extremes of the politicians and the need for the public to demand some solid reasoning.

Ensign Notes

.Happenings In Tisdale:

Is "a full debate in the House of Commons on the SPP" needed?

Friday
February 23, 2007
by : Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls :
Without public discussion and for the most part without even public awareness the process of turning North America into the United States of all North America is progressing. Should there be some public discussion on this process?
A walk in the woods: my encounter with Wade Davis

Thursday
February 22, 2007
by : Michael Townsend
Kamloops :
Wade Davis was interviewed on CBC radio's Sounds like Canada this morning and will appear tonight on The Hour on CBC television at 11:00. Mike tells us about his strange encounter with this world famous National Geographic explorer in residence.
Phishing

Thursday
February 22, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
This story is a warning about a method of stealing from your bank account. It would be a good idea to look this over very carefully.
Government prepared to ignore
Wheat Board barley vote

Tuesday
February 20, 2007
by : Wendy Manson
Outlook :
The barley plebscite is heavily weighted to favour the government's American position to end the Canadian Wheat Board monopoly but the signals are already there that the minister of agriculture is prepared to ignore the results of the vote no matter what the outcome.
The Greenwater report

Monday
February 19, 2007
by : Gerald Crawford
Greenwater Provincial Park :
This week's report includes an outstanding sequence of pictures showing a mirage. Life at the park centres around coffee time at the beach cafe and snowmobiling. But, at the Crawford cabin its all about wildlife, birds, deer, rabbits and a great picture of a porcupine.
Why are the Harper's Quebec attack ads being continued?

Monday
February 19, 2007
by : Brad Thomson
Ottawa :
The Conservative attack ads on the Liberals and their leader will adversely affect federalism in Canada. The deliberate move by the government suggests a pretty nasty attitude toward our country.
What's in a name

Saturday
February 17, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
Friday the Bank of Montreal in Tisdale became the BMO. This story considered the name brand business of banking and the recent distribution of credit cards by this bank and the CIBC with the refusal to explain why the switch.
Dogs on duty

Saturday
February 17, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
We call them pets, man's best friend a lot of other things but attention to duty, being on the job protecting property and supervising their domain dogs definitely have their day.
Seeing is not always believing

Friday
February 16, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
We have done it before and will certainly do it again in the future, we have made a mistake. The combines mentioned in the story "Combines replace alfalfa swathers" was just plain dead wrong and a reader pointed out the mistake but we invite you to help us get this one right.
Consider should he have a majority

Friday
February 16, 2007
by : Eugene Parks
Victoria :
The Conservatives have put out another attack ad this one with a newspaper headline attacking the integrity of Ralph Goodale who was cleared of all wrong doing by the RCMP yet the Prime Minister is sticking to his false accusation despite the possiblity it was deliberately leaked during the last campaign and may have put him in power.
Panama Canal

Thursday
February 15, 2007
by : R. W. Shire
Panama City :
Here is a picture essay showing scenes around the entrance into the canal.
Where there is no vision, the people perish

Thursday
February 15, 2007
by : Robert Ede
Richmond Hill Ontario :
Six news stories appeared yesterday that seemed to strike a common threat for Mr. Ede as he explains some things about Canada and how it so badly needs a real leader with a real vision for the country as a whole.
Combines replace alfalfa swathers

Wednesday
February 14, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
It is interesting to hold meeting and issue press releases but the proof is in what is done and progress toward developing a bio-energy industry in Tisdale is beginning to emerge.
The real issue is power

Wednesday
February 14, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
From our vantage point in rural Canada we have to learn to accept the reality of political power and though it affects us we are definitely out of the loop. This story is accompanied by pictures taken around Tisdale this afternoon.
Gilding the lily (la fleur-de-lis)

Tuesday
February 13, 2007
by : Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls :
It appears the prime minister is gearing up for a spring election and yesterday's $349,000,000 donation to Quebec is intended to go a fair distance in re-electing Charest and putting conservatives in Parliament from Quebec.
Nothing fair about the Wheat Board barley vote

Tuesday
February 13, 2007
by : Jan Eliason
Outlook :
Barley growers able to vote on the Wheat Board barley issue are cautioned to consider carefully what they are about to do for the US grain companies which seem to be who the minister of agriculture has decided support. For the Harper government its always US interests first.
CN strike is no surprise

Monday
February 12, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
Conductors go on strike and much of CN rail grinds to a halt. But the strike is just part of the growing trend in the American run company as it relies upon confrontation as its normal means of settling disputes.
Managing climate change

Sunday
February 11, 2007
by : Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls :
Mr. Hueglin has put together some important resources to give you the opportunity to do some research on the topic and inform yourself on this pressing problem.
The Greenwater Report

Sunday
February 11, 2007
by : Gerald Crawford
Greenwater Provincial Park :
Big news at the park, the beach cafe is open for weekends. Gerald gives us a solid look and story about the last days of their bus tour and it looks like he has decided against becoming a Mormon.
One year not thirteen

Sunday
February 11, 2007
by : Eugene Parks
Victoria B.C. :
It looks like the Prime Ministers attampt to condemn the Liberals for in-action on Kyoto is a major exaggeration since the Kyoto Accord was only passed in February 2005.
January meeting of Parkland Photo club

Saturday
February 10, 2007
by : Gerald Crawford
Greenwater Provincial Park :
This month's theme was colour and we have thre excellent examples as the club continues its quest to do better every time.
Saskatchewan is what you make of it

Friday
February 9, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
Its not Manitoba, or Alberta, though close to both Saskatchewan is a place geographically, socially and economically, entirely unto itself and we will all be better off when we begin to accept our place for what it is and realise what it is not.
Reflections over the third cup

Thursday
February 8, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
Enjoying a third cup of brreakfast coffee this morning with the world outside frozen solid, cabin fever closing in and far to much coldness in our hearts.

Wednesday
February 7, 2007
by : Edwin Wallace

February 7, 2007
by : Matthew Shire

Cool

Tuesday
February 6, 2007
by : Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale :
Looks like a few more days of -20º days, we might even get used to it, a look back in Februarys past indicates this is not a new thing, its that warm December that made us forget that we live in a very cold country.
The Greenwater Report

Tuesday
February 6, 2007
by : Geerald Crawford
Flagstaff Arizona :
The tour continues for the Crawfords as they enjoy the events, scenery and the fun they make for themselves. Gerry is cool on shopping but is making the best of the trip which will see them back home this Thursday.

Monday
February 5, 2007
