Tim's Tip of the Day

Kevin's find of the day

Boldly Going Nowhere
Though science fiction has predicted the process of humans leaving this planet and travelling through the gallaxy the really is that the distances are so great and our present abilities with speed in space are so limited that such travel is only a dream.

Happenings In Tisdale:

  • Saturday, April 18 7:30 Eileen Laverty at the RECPlex theatre

Doghide still within its banks
Tuesday
April 14, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Through the years it is normal for the spring run off to exceed the capacity of the little Doghide River that flows along the east side of Tisdale. This year it is flowing along peacefully and the water is staying with in the banks of the river.

Canadian Grain Act - Bill C-13; privatisation on the march
Thursday
April 9, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: As we discover the reason Canada's banking sector is one of the soundest in the world is because it is not allowed free reign but is carefully controlled. Up to now countries around the world can import grain from Canada knowing it is safe but all that could change because the government wants to do away with all controls on the grain handling industry to benifit the grain companies.
Taking advantage of spring

Wading into spring
Thursday
April 2, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Two geese by the highway and perhaps eight at the lagoon but its a start as the puddles expand and the snow thins on the fields and lawns. The streets in town badly need the sweeper and Heritage Road feels like it hasn't been graded in a decade, all are signs of spring.
Major water break
Thursday
April 2, 2009
images by: Ken Styan
Tisdale: Using aa contractor there were repairs made this week to a water main just west of Tisdale's main street. The excavation was about 100ft long.
Saying goodbye to winter
Wednesday
April 1, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Spring looks pretty much to be here now and its a good time to look back at what we will remember as this past winter. So much of what we will remember is not the winter itself but the economic uncertainty that were part and parcel of this season.
The Greenwater report
Wednesday
April 1, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: The Crawford have been gambling again and this past weekend took in the Gardenscape show. There is no question that they are eager to enjoy spring and the coming summer.

Thursday
March 26, 2009

Ice and roll
Tuesday
March 24, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Star City: At 5:15 this afternoon the ice conditions on highway 3 between Tisdale and Melfort were critical with one vehicle rolling and less than a mile away another sliding into the ditch.
Aurora the artist
Tuesday
March 24, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire

Thursday
March 19, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Today the quilting group began their session at ten this morning and worked all day on quilt after quilt as they get their annual crop of project wrapped up for yet another year.
Regulations and the free market philosophy
Thursday
March 19, 2009
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls, Ontario: It is truly confounding to face the fact that the present government of Canada has such enormous difficulty doing its job, a job quite simply is to govern the country. Ther problem seems unavoidable as they lose sight of their job in order to forge ahead with their hatched in Alberta concepts of what government should be.
Seniors and the telephone
Thursday
March 19, 2009
by: Ken Styan
Tisdale: Though the computer has become so common place in many homes there are far more households without computer access than those with the machine embedded in the fabric of day to day life. Therefore, the telephone is most likely here to stay.
The demise of the telephone
Wednesday
March 18, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: What a shame, Alexander Graham Bell had a great idea and it has worked for us well for over a century but alas the era of the telephone is over. Spam advertising, wrong numbers, voice mail and computerised answering systems make the thing all but completely useless.
