Tisdale: In the late 40s Bombardier built what up to then was the ultimate cabin type snow machine. There are some still in working condition but here is the new ultimate snow machine. The North Dakota made SnoBear.

Tim's Tip of the Day

Kevin's find of the day

India to launch cow urine as soft drink
As you know the Hindus of India consider the cow as a sacred animal. Oddly enough the drinking of cow urine is considered medicinal. A company is about to market bottled flavoured cow urine.

Happenings In Tisdale:

  • Saturday, February 14, 6:30 Beehive Hotel, Valentines buffet, Electric Cattle Company with draw for diamond ring at 11:00

Differing standards for nominees and Senators
Thursday
February 12, 2009
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls Ontario: Ih his great rush to fill the senate seats the Prime Minister appointed some interesting members to the Senate. Certainly one of the most interesting is a 34 year old aboriginal leader who distinguished himself as all but destroying the credibility of his organisation. Odd choice because had he chose to run as an MP his history and tainted past would make him ineligible for running as a Conservative.
So how was your breakfast this morning?
Thursday
February 12, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Thursday is my morning to go out for breakfast but today it was without guilt as we have now been informed that a couple of eggs a day are good for you. Breakfasts are available in Tisdale at A&W and Robin's Donuts but this story focuses on the quality breakfasts at The Great Wall Restaurant and Gus' Greek Ribs.
New cul-de-sac gets natural gas installed
Wednesday
February 11, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: It may still be winter but Tisdale's construction season is well underway as natural gas mains are snaked into the back alleys of Tisdale's newest housing area, only laid out as a street in the fall of 2008.
Taking a picture of taking a picture
Wednesday
February 11, 2009
by: Joanne Mortenson
Regina: Last Monday we showed you some great images taken by Ken Jones of Regina of blowing snow near Pilot Butte on January 31st. While Ken was getting the snow shots Regina photographer Joanne Mortenson was documenting Ken's exploits.
Foundering ship of state
Wednesday
February 11, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria British Columbia: The Government of Canada has been in the hands of Stephen Harper for three years and this government has concentrated all of its efforts on gettting and keeping power while spending away a surplus budget situation and making itself unprepared for hard times which have come along even though only months ago denied it was happening.
Not to bad, . . . I guess
Tuesday
February 10, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: There is a genuine desire by most folks to be friendly and greet one another in a positive way. Today's store is a brief discussion about this process and wonders just what we are asking and what are we responding with our greetings to each other.
Tisdale landmark images needed
Tuesday
February 10, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Wayne Styan is working on a Tisdale history project and is having a tough time finding some pictures of places that were important in the community at their time.
Residential construction in Tisdale
Monday
February 9, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: It looks like the first housing start of this new year is about to get underway. A lot on 85th street was cleared of snow today and the big Chupa track hoe was brought over to begin work then taken away to start the project on a new day.
The Greenwater report
Monday
February 9, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: The renovations to the Crawford house are moving right along. They have had some company and Gerald celebrates the exploits of one of Canada's great athletes, Colette Bourgonje from Porcupine Plain. The man spends so much time going to coffee its a wonder he has time to get his report together.
Hope
Tuesday
February 5, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: A mantra of the new US president is the concept of hope. Not an unfamiliar sentiment for people who live in Saskatchewan which often calls itself 'next year country'. Today we give some thought to the idea and merits of hope and couple those thoughts with the need for us to accept rather than wish for reality.
Blowing snow
Monday
February 2, 2009
by: Ken Jones
Pilot Butte: Some interesting winter images from Saturday as Ken Jones captures the wind driving the snow across the prairies.
The Greenwater report
Monday
February 2, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: The Crawfords attended an RV show and have planned to take in this summer's 100th Anniversary at Kelliher. Gerald explains his long association with the community and then tells us about the lure of going on a cruise.
Life in our bubble
Friday
January 30, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Tuesday morning Persona, our connection to the Internet failed and we had no connection to the world until late Thursday. No way to complain about the budget and its pointless nature.
Parkland Photography Club, January meeting
Friday
January 30, 2009
by: Darlene McCullough
Tisdale: This month's meeting of the photo club seen some heavy lifting as images were judged for a Regina photo club competition and of course this month's theme pictures of old buildings.
The Greenwater report
Monday
January 26, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Gerald and Doreen catch up at the celebration of the life of a friend in Wynyard. The Crawfords are renovating their place and I think suffering from cabin fever as they plan some motor home trips this coming summer.
All our tomorrows
Friday
January 23, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: This little story deals with the fleeting issue of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Listen to the song at the bottom of the page by clicking on the QuickTime arrow.
Cabin Fever
Thursday
January 22, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Only late January and already it seems like it has been a really long winter. The days are getting a bit longer each day but we still have and will continue to have winter.
Economic downturn and grain prices
Wednesday
January 21, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: We all know that the dramatic decline in the stock market has hit the commodity prices with a vengence but just how bad is it. Here we take a quick look at what the prices mean and it is easy to see how this will affect the Saskatchewan economy.
A need to be frank and honest about economy
Wednesday
January 21, 2009
by: Scott Brison
Wolfville Nova Scotia: During the federal election only two months ago the Prime Minister and Finance Minister said that there would be a budget surplus and the economy was in great shape. The downturn in the economy had begun several months earlier and they were aware of the stockmarket meltdown that was already well underway.
Tracks
Tuesday
January 20, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Essentially all of history and for that matter every bit of archeology is just a variation of following tracks. Every event seems to leave its mark behind, sometimes obvious, sometimes obscure but at some level there are always tracks. Today we take a look at some tracks from north and east of Tisdale.
Goodbye Bush
Tuesday
January 20, 2009
by: D. Aid Qarni
Saudi Arabia: This message came in our e-mail today and explains to me why we in a very different culture with our own points of view find the Muslim world a mystery. It is clear from this piece that the Google Translator took much of the text a bit to literally so you have to think about that when you read this through, also check out the editor's note at the bottom of the page that gives some confusing information about the author. One way or another, we need to think about this.
Preparing for a safe snowmobile season
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Saskatchewan Safety Council
Regina: Cold or warm the snow conditions are outstanding and folks are out there on their snow machines. This message covers a few safety tips but oddly enough does not mention the main cause of injury and death and that is combine this fun activity with the consumption of alcohol, not an acceptable combination.
Greenwater report
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Gerald and Doreen did not have a tough time dealing with great grandson Logan this past week. Gerald reports on the passing of some folks from Kelvington and Wynyard and gives us a report on the goings on at the Saskatoon Field House.
Time for a tidal change in point of view
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria British Columbia: Tomorrow the United States turns the page and it is to be hoped that with that change of leadership comes a dramatic shift in attitude from one of fear and hostility to that of hope.
Change is overdue
Monday
January 19, 2009
by: Don wilson
Masstown Nova Scotia: It may be that much of the economic turbulence the economy is undergoing was caused by the security exchange watchdogs losing their grip on things and life goes on. In fact this is a message of hope with the belief that things are not nearly as bad as the media suggests and we can get on with our lives provided we get back to the concept of saving.
Democracy is a fragile thing
Friday
January 16, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: We as citizens of the world can not excuse the behaviour and chronic mistakes of the George W. Bush and his administration but the blame and shame is certainly not his alone. The 'Fifth Estate' failed miserablly and allowed that administration to carry out the crimes that it will go down in history for committing.
