Tim's Tip of the Day

Kevin's find of the day

Soldiers murdered in Real IRA attack named
Saturday violence flared once again in Northern Ireland where two soldiers and a pizza delivery man were shot by a radical wing of the IRA. The soldiers were about to board a flight that would take them to be deployed in Afghanistan.

Happenings In Tisdale:

The Greenwater report
Monday
March 9, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Time for family as the Crawfords have some company from B.C. Gerald and Doreen take in a Sports and Leisure show which affords a perfect opportunity to visit with folks who are not usually in Saskatoon.
Telemiracle breakfast
Monday
March 9, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Saturday morning the local Kinsmen and Kinettes club with the help of their sponsors put on a pancake breakfast at the RECPlex to add to the money they have raised this year for the annual television weekend charity fund raiser.
Hoar frost
Friday
March 6, 2009
by: Ken Jones
Regina: Here are seven outstanding images taken in Regina's Wascana park on February 5th. Most are taken against a cloudless deep blue sky that sets off the frost as it was seen in the bright mid day sunlight.
Louis Dreyfus moves the wheat
Thursday
March 5, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The giant pile of wheat that was established during harvest this past fall is being loaded up and readied for shipment this week.
RCMP leadership must be held accountable for interference
Thursday
March 5, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria British Columbia: With the British Columbia's decision not to lay charges against the four officers who killed Robert Dziekanski one would have thought that the force as a whole would have wanted to clear the matter up. However, that is not the case they seemed to have deliberately surpressed cooperation with the inquiry into the incident and surpressed other evidence.
Why special $3 billion fund must be accounted for up front
Thursday
March 5, 2009
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls: It would appear that the lesson of December has not been learned as the Prime Minister is once again on a $3 billion plan to bolster ridings he needs to win a major in a future election. The Liberals do not want to grant the government that much descressionary money while the NDP refers to it as a slush fund. Election looms.
Cheers to a healthier economy
Wednesday
March 4, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria British Columbia: There is nothing we can do about the current financial and economic crisis in which we find ourselves but we are demanding that our government take critical steps in this time of economic slow down. Here is a simple summary of the political / economic choices available.
Langbank 1951
Tuesday
March 3, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Langbank: Langbank is a tiny community in the southeast part of Saskatchewan. In 1951 school consolidation had not yet taken place and the school then had two rooms, grades 1 - 7 and 8 -12. You need not know the people in the picture but their story and their time is frozen in this interesting image.
The Greenwater report
Monday
March 2, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: Gerald gives us a detailed account of the changing weather of late and fills us in on who he met and visited with this past Saturday. Oh yes, the renovations to the Crawford place are finished and he tells us how that went.
Fearful men
Friday
February 27, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The sickening statements made by those who killed Robert Dziekanski are just to much to bare. One could understand lying but after being cleared of the murder the RCMP members seem almost proud of killing the tired, stressed, polish speaking man.
Super Bumper
Thursday
February 26, 2009
by: Kevin McIntyre
Carrot River: Cars in Canada must have a bumper capable of being hit at low speed and absorbing the energy. Trucks and vans which are classified as trucks are exempt from this requirement. Kevin has installed on his van a clever solution to improve the safety of his vehicle.
KKK - Kanada's killer kops
Thursday
February 26, 2009
by: Edwin Wallace
Swift Current: The federal government in response to the outrage of gang violence in Vancouver and Toronto has introduced a bill increasing penalties for gang related violence. Here in Saskaatchewan and British Columbia we have witnessed a large number of police killing people while taking them into custody or already in hand cuffs. The police explanation is that the "officer feared for his life" and was justified and killing. Only beating a prisoner is ever punished the police killing someone as in the Dziekanski case all but ignored.
Parkland Photography Club February meeting
Wednesday
February 25, 2009
by: Darlene McCullough
Tisdale: The photography club met last night and discussed their success with presenting slide shows to various groups in the area and considered the problems of Macro photography. Their theme shoot was "my favourite picture" and the three winners are stunning.
Losing to the elements
Tuesday
February 24, 2009
by: Ken Jones
Regina: This is a photo essay of nine images of an aging barn about nine miles from Regina, surrounded by the open plain and the snow drifts that have accumulated around it make these images dramatic and interesting.
The Greenwater report
Monday
February 23, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: As it gradually shows some signs of warming up the Crawfords are turning their thoughts toward summer motor home trips and various trips. But for at least a week more their attention is still on wrapping of their house renovations.
Last home game of the regular season for the Trojans
Thursday
February 19, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: With still one week left in the season the Tisdale AAA Trojans have played their last home game until the play-offs begin in March. They still have one game that was cancelled due to bad weather in November to catch up with and it will be the end of next week before we know who they will start off with in the play-offs.
House #2 taking shape
Wednesday
February 18, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: The foundation was dug and the wood basement constructed in early winter but they are back to work now and the walls of a new house on the northeast side of town is emerging.
The Greenwater report
Tuesday
February 17, 2009
by: Gerald Crawford
Saskatoon: The Crawford's renovations are nearly complete and they have been enjoying meeting and visiting with old friends. But alas the Rankin concert was unpleasant because of very bad sound.
House number one of 2009
Friday
February 13, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: A concrete basement has been sitting without a house since early fall but now a new house is sitting on it on Tisdale's south side on 97th Ave.
Waxwings 2009 visit
Friday
February 13, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: A chubby bunch of Bohemian Waxwings paid yet another visit to our yard this morning to do a little frozen berry picking. But this year they were forced to do their digestion and depositing elsewhere.
SnoBear
Thursday
February 12, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: In the late 40s Bombardier built what up to then was the ultimate cabin type snow machine. There are some still in working condition but here is the new ultimate snow machine. The North Dakota made SnoBear.
Differing standards for nominees and Senators
Thursday
February 12, 2009
by: Joe Hueglin
Niagara Falls Ontario: Ih his great rush to fill the senate seats the Prime Minister appointed some interesting members to the Senate. Certainly one of the most interesting is a 34 year old aboriginal leader who distinguished himself as all but destroying the credibility of his organisation. Odd choice because had he chose to run as an MP his history and tainted past would make him ineligible for running as a Conservative.
So how was your breakfast this morning?
Thursday
February 12, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Thursday is my morning to go out for breakfast but today it was without guilt as we have now been informed that a couple of eggs a day are good for you. Breakfasts are available in Tisdale at A&W and Robin's Donuts but this story focuses on the quality breakfasts at The Great Wall Restaurant and Gus' Greek Ribs.
New cul-de-sac gets natural gas installed
Wednesday
February 11, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: It may still be winter but Tisdale's construction season is well underway as natural gas mains are snaked into the back alleys of Tisdale's newest housing area, only laid out as a street in the fall of 2008.
Taking a picture of taking a picture
Wednesday
February 11, 2009
by: Joanne Mortenson
Regina: Last Monday we showed you some great images taken by Ken Jones of Regina of blowing snow near Pilot Butte on January 31st. While Ken was getting the snow shots Regina photographer Joanne Mortenson was documenting Ken's exploits.
Foundering ship of state
Wednesday
February 11, 2009
by: Eugene Parks
Victoria British Columbia: The Government of Canada has been in the hands of Stephen Harper for three years and this government has concentrated all of its efforts on gettting and keeping power while spending away a surplus budget situation and making itself unprepared for hard times which have come along even though only months ago denied it was happening.
Not to bad, . . . I guess
Tuesday
February 10, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: There is a genuine desire by most folks to be friendly and greet one another in a positive way. Today's store is a brief discussion about this process and wonders just what we are asking and what are we responding with our greetings to each other.
Tisdale landmark images needed
Tuesday
February 10, 2009
by: Timothy W. Shire
Tisdale: Wayne Styan is working on a Tisdale history project and is having a tough time finding some pictures of places that were important in the community at their time.
