Tim's Tip of the Day

Child pornography, no matter where it is made, or who has it, is a serious crime. Even SPAM e-mail advertising it needs to be reported to the RCMP. If something comes your way go the RCMP's Cybertip.ca website and tell them what you know. Fighting this crime takes a huge coordinated effort between the public, world police agencies and the willingness to prosecute.

Kevin's find of the day

Body lay in house for year (PDF) This Skynews story tells of an eccentric sister who shared a room with her dead sister for eighteen months in their western Ireland home and her brother shared the same house and didn't know of his sister's demise. An inquest (PDF) was held and no charges laid.

Ensign Notes

The more time spent on graphics on this site the slower I am getting stories posted. Today's "Snowtime" story is the first done completely using a Canon Optura 10 Camcorder using its still camera feature.

Have governments reduced their citizens to Doublethinkers?
Wednesday
February 18, 2004
by : Mario deSantis
Nipawin : The frightening reality is that Orwellian thought, so much a part of the 1930s, that George Orwell dramatised in his novel 1984, seems like the environment of today. War is peace, freedom is slavery and as this story points out the power of "doublethink" is becoming common place.

A world of Newspeak: socio-economic system for looking after number one and after profits
Saturday

by: Mario deSantis
Nipawin : Living in the approach of World War II George Orwell wrote about a frightening world where the official line was accepted even thinking against the government was a crime. As thing seem to spin further and further beyond what could possibly considered a real world it looks an awful lot like the world George Orwell was describing in his novel.
